Puffins ...

Bizarre as it may seem. today's blip from Lisbon is of a puffin, taken at the Ocenario de Lisbon.  I'm not a big fan of animals in captivity, so aquariums and zoos do not normally do it for me.  However, I will make the Ocenario a notable exception to that rule.

We went on the urging of Cathy, who has been quite keen to visit, since she read about the place in our guide book.  I was prepared to be sold on the idea once she mentioned that there were puffins ....

We followed the Oceanario with a trip to the Gulbenkian Museum and Art Gallery. They have a collection of Rene Lalique glassware and jewellery, and it is marvellous stuff.

On the way home we wandered through the bric-a-brac market that has been set up on Aveninda de Liberardade today.  Sadly, we couldn't spot any Rene Lalique pieces waiting to be snapped up for a few euros.
