Sunny SNP Saturday
The branch annual fundraising barbecue couldn't have fallen on a better day. This was the first Saturday in weeks when it was mostly dry, and mostly sunny.
Location was the garden of one of the members, in a village a couple of miles along the road from ours. She and her husband hosted it every year, but he sadly died in Spring, so Wilma says this was the last she will do. About 7pm there began to be occasional showers, but they didn't last long.
It was nice to see everyone relaxed, having a drink and a chat. I had made two vats of potato salad, one with chives through it, and one with chopped smoked sausage. Everyone else had also brought mounds of delicious salads and puddings, so there was a mountain of food left over.
Long before the end I had run out of small talk, so took myself off into the kitchen and got stuck into the washing up. That's why you'll always find me in the kitchen at parties! (Remember that song? Was it BA Robertson?)
Home now, having a G&T since I had to drive myself to and fro the barbecue. Hope it will be dry again tomorrow, and we might go down to Edinburgh and have a wander around to see some street theatre.
Night all.
