Music!

The Church Street Fair celebrates the arts in Santa Cruz, offering an eclectic lineup of over a dozen performance groups over a two-day period. Two city blocks are devoted to arts and crafts booths, food and wine; all performances are free on the outdoor stage. Today's opener was our local Gamelan Anak Swarasanti, featuring this masked Balinese dancer. Other ensembles from the area play music from Morocco, Brazil, India, West Africa, the Caribbean, Jamaica, Hawai'i, Ireland and Japan--a rich menu for the weekend and a true gift to the community

The evening brings us inside to the 53rd season of the fabled Cabrillo Festival of Contemporary Music, where everything is live, including the composers!  I'm not sure I can keep up with all this bounty.
