Gladiolus

Gladiolus or gladioli? I wondered which was correct. Igor wasn't even sure there was such a word as gladiolus but then he "never had the latin" (Pete and Dud). As a grammar school girl of the 1960's I spent a fair bit of my time reciting such things as "amo, amas,amat............." so I know all about these singular and plural endings. Who do we go to if we want to solve these disputes? Uncle Wiki of course:-

Gladiolus (from Latin, the diminutive of gladius, a sword) is a genus of perennial cormous flowering plants in the iris family. It is sometimes called the 'Sword lily', but usually by its generic name (plural gladioli).

Now we know.

I wasn't sure which version I liked best so you have both.
