The Old Man of Hoy

Led a ramble today through the Rackwick Valley, round to the Old Man, then along St John’s Head and down the Cuillags.  Sometimes there can be 20+ folk but this time t was a select group of 7.  So having fed Harry and stunned Baz with a wooden mallet we set off.

In case folk misbehave I always take my cattle prod.  After inspecting their socks and warning everybody not to speak about Del Shannon we set off from the Hoy Pier at a leisurely pace.  After a snack at Rackwick the group split up and five proceeded onto the Old Man. As usual the Current Mrs Creel steamed ahead and inevitably she met folk at the Old Man that she knows.  We were so so lucky with the weather; we got great views of Morven, Ben Hope, Ben Loyal and Klibreck etc down in Caithness and Sutherland.  It was a great day out.  I was even approached on my blind side by a fellow Blipper.  You’re just never sure.
