A dull day

The past week provided ample sunshine for the Dounby Show, the Hope Show, Shapinsay Show et al. The Committee of the County Show must be very provoked today. They have brought carnivals north and many stock judges; the whole County was primed and today started with rain and mist. It then improved slightly, which saw CMC and my Uncle and Aunty don rubber boots and leave for the Show Ground.

I was left at home to receive the new settee - now unwrapped and in place, and to prepare the tea - now bubbling away.

I expect three drookit rats home soon. I expect to administer cups of tea and G and Ts. Then I'm going across to Stromness to pick up my mother. She has her case case packed and waiting as she has a three day holiday in Orphir.
