Ullapool

This morning we took the car a short distance North to Ardmair, one of our favourite places in the area. There were some very light showers but we could see out to the summer isles so we sat and read our books for a while before having a walk so we could look across the bay to Ben Mor Coigach.

We came back to Ullapool for lunch at the Celidh Place where we met one of our Bridge House Art friends. Besides lunch we had a look at the exibition of artworks by former Portfolio students from Bridge House Art to celebrate the 20 year anniversary of the studio.

After lunch we had a longer walk round Ullapool starting not far from the Celidh Place in a new artisan art and craft gallery called Ceard. The gallery is in part run by an other Bridge House Art friend who makes handmade books and paper sculpture, as well as being a medical herbalist. Mave the Deerhound was with us of course !
After a blether to catch up on the news since we last met we moved on and visited the An Talla Solais gallery and shop further along the road. No friends to meet this time but plenty of work to be seen by other friends/artists and Maeve had a nice wander round the exhibiton.

After a walk along Shore Street and back along Argyle Street we had a cuppa. Later we went out for another walk which took us to where we could see from Loch Broom towards the Summer Isles. The lighthouse at Rhue was lit by shafts of sunlight and we sat for a while on a bench and watched the ferry approach. We carried on up the path along the river and turned back at the bridge over the North road to come back into town.

Extras: Ben Mor Coigach from Adrmair, flower over the sea Ardmair pier, old boat repair shed Ardmair, fishing boat Ullapool pier, Rhue Lighthouse, MV Loch Seaforth approaching Ullapool though Loch Broom.
