Umbrella
Well, the Spaniards rained mightily on our party last night, beating the Irish 4-0 in the big soccer match. To add to our woes, the weather turned foul, as if the footballing gods had decided to add insult to injury. Today was umbrella weather right through and as I write this the raindrops are literally hammering on the conservatory roof. So, why the title of the photo? Well what you are looking at here is an old Umbrella Anchor which forms part of the decoration of the harbour area. Shaped just like an inverted umbrella, though weighing slightly more, this anchor would have relied on the drag created in the water as much as its weight for effect. Oh yes, you are of course looking down into it as it sits on the ground.
