Work in the morning, then a very jolly lunch with some grand old characters (including impromptu Beckett quoting!), before grabbing a couple of fringe shows. One, Tonight with Donny Stixx, was a powerful and very high octane one man show, then we followed that with Citizen Puppet which wasn't as good, although I do love puppetry normally.
Walked over to the conference centre to see Simon McBurney do The Encounter, an unbelievably brilliant piece that was about a man who was lost in the rainforest and came upon a tribe of people and spent an intense time with them. The most amazing thing about it was the way he presented it-we had headphones on and it felt like we were immersed in the jungle and had people and animals all around us. At one point he crashed around the stage wrecking things and throwing the props all over.....leaving a trail of destruction.
Impossible to describe this show except to say it was brilliant. Another wow...catch it if you can!
