FOREST BUG

A Shield bug, a new one for me, Pentatoma rufipes, a very handsome chap.

It "lives in a wide variety of trees, including garden apples and cherries, feeding on caterpillars and probably some fruit. It hibernates as a nymph."  Collins Insect Guide.

It was on a daisy below my Gala apple tree which has 50 odd fruits. Last year it had 4. The Bramley next to it has 1 apple because I pruned it far too late. Last year the Bramley had 10 apples. Please leave the Bramley alone Forest Bug, I might get an apple crumble at least. A small apple crumble.
