Sycamore Gap

This sycamore tree on Hadrian's Wall was made famous on the silver screen in the movie 'Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves' (Kevin Costner). It features near the start of the movie.

We weren't really intending to see it up close today, but ended up walking there after visiting Housesteads Fort this morning. It was a beautiful day for it and the fresh air and sense of tranquility up there was incredibly refreshing (apart from the times when one of my girls got a bit tired and whiny!).

Sadly we had to say goodbye to our visitors Laura (astronaut and Luke after the walk. It's been an absolutely lovely couple of days with them.
