Big Job

The branch that started falling on Saturday continued to drop over the weekend, hadn't quite reached its resting place this morning. Fortunately, the large vines growing wildly in the park behind our yard had wrapped themselves around the branch and around the trees in the park allowing the branch to lower gently and slowly.

The arbourist kindly rearranged his schedule and arrived at 7:30am to remove the branch. After surveying the situation, he and his crew began working very carefully. In the end, a few perennials and hydrangeas were damaged, but they will recover well. Amazingly, nothing structural was damaged. The branch weighed tonnes and was only a foot away from the top of the waterfall and an inch away from the top of the fence. Whew!

The rest of the tree, which is rotting at the base, will need to come out in the fall. This corner of the yard already looks bare and we have lost some of our privacy. Kevin, would you like a pergola for your birthday?

Happy Birthday!
