Happisburgh

We awoke to sunshine for the first time this holiday, so it was time for shorts and sandals (the boys have been wearing shorts for months), and we reverted to the plan that TT had made for Wednesday. We drove cross country to Happisburgh – which I believe is pronounced Hazeborough.  Happisburgh is being lost to the sea, due to coastal erosin and you can see the remnants of various sea defences along the beach.  They are currently doing some coastal defence work and you can’t’ get onto that part of the beach.

We parked by the lighthouse and BB immediately made use of the very nice new play park, before we headed down to the beach with a football.  We walked along the beach to Cart Gap.  We left at the beach at that point and headed up to the lifeboat station and down the track to the very nice café.  TT and I enjoyed delicious scones and BB had an ice cream.  We walked back to Happisburgh along the cliff top.  BB was straight back to the play park and we all  enjoyed our picnic in the sunshine.

After lunch we headed round the coast to Horsey Mill, had a quick look around, went up to the top of the mill, and then walked down to the beach to look for seals.  There were quite a lot seals lying in the sunshine and others playing in the sea.  BB also played in the sea – though not near the seals!

After a really lovely day we drove up the coast, stopping in Cromer to buy some provisions.  We all slept well after all the fresh air and sunshine.
