In practice, although we warn drivers in advance about the race, there seems to be an ever-increasing number getting held up by it. The vast majority of them wait patiently and shout words of encouragement through car windows as we pass.

Although the procession went ahead this morning it was shortened because of the heavy rain that has soaked us most of the week. And the children's sports had to be postponed until Monday evening. It's a much better forecast for tomorrow and Monday.

The rain has left the start area for the race very wet indeed and I have measured a contingency start for tomorrow. But that has its own safety issues we we may end up shortening the course to keep everyone safe.

Either way it promises to be another clsassic at Freckleton Half Marathon
