History
Today's Freckleton Half Marathon was a great day for all the family with lots for the kids as well as the adults.
A wonderful atmosphere with great support from the crowds and marshals.
One thing I've not seen is the fun run another sell out of 200 mostly kids having a great time. Of all the things I did when I was race director I am most proud of introducing the fun run.
It fills me with great pride and joy as I run back into the village and see them all proudly wearing their medals.
In its 48 year history, the most wins is 6 by the late Ken Moss in the 1980's. Ken won 5 consecutive and 6 in total. Today Ben Fish won his 6th consecutive Freckleton Half Marathon. Ben is front row, second from the left.
I'm so pleased it was Ben who achieved this because he is one of the nicest people you could ever want to meet.
If he wins next year we will probably get a field together to have a go at Ron Hill's record of 64 mins 45 seconds. Set in 1969 it is way past time it was broken.
I got round and I was just in time to announce the prize winners!
