Very Very Bad News...........
Those of you who regularly view and take the time to comment on my blips, may remember the blip i entered of the fox cub last week.
In my blip i mentioned that in general he looked well, but his ribs were showing under his fur.
After that first encounter, Bev and i have been leaving food out for him, and we saw him numerous times during the day eating the food we'd left out.
The last time we actually saw him eating was on Thursday 14th June.
Unfortunately i found him laying on the lawn by the pond at the top of the garden this morning. Not sure what to do, i made a phone call to the RSPCA, who said they would send an officer out asap.
The fox died ten minutes before the RSPCA officer arrived................
After a brief examination of the cub, the officer was pretty certain that the cub had died from Distemper.
Sarah, the RSPCA officer kindly took away the cub to be disposed of.
We sit in our homes in relative comfort and safety, but just on the other side of that pane of glass, the animals we welcome into our gardens are truly wild animals, at risk from man, other animals And disease. All these threats are just feet away from where you are now.
For me that's quite a sobering thought.
One last look at the fox cub............
