MONO MONDAY - BIGGER
I have been thinking about this challenge overnight and for me the word “bigger” meant that it had to be something that was relative in size to something which was smaller.
Having collected several feathers when I was out at a nearby water park last week, I thought two of these would fit the bill. Mr. HCB thinks the top, bigger feather may be from a magpie and the bottom, smaller one may be from some sort of duck. Whatever they are, the top one is definitely bigger - well it is certainly longer, but when I put the other one on top of it, that one was wider.
I guess at the end of the day they both do the same job for the bird - they help them to fly, swim, dive, forage, and hear; keep them warm, control body temperature, protect from wind, moisture and sun, and for some, they are used as camouflage, and the bigger the bird, the bigger the feathers.
Feathers certainly provide protection to young chicks, so must be quite strong - and one of my favourite Bible verses is this:
Like a bird protecting its young,
God will cover you with His feathers,
will protect you under His great wings;
His faithfulness will form a shield around you,
a rock-solid wall to protect you.
