STYLE ON SUNDAY (2) - AUGUST CHALLENGE
Oh yes, we had style - or so we thought!
This was taken sometime in 1972 when our first child was about 18 months old - we were proud "first-time" parents and it was the "done thing" to go to a studio to have a photograph taken to give to grandparents - and it was probably done to give as a Christmas present that year. We went to a local studio to a lady called Beatrice Bollard and she did us proud - at the time - but of course, we would have had to wait to see the results and hope for the best, because in those days there were no digital cameras.
Of course, things have changed but it is good to have a record of “how we were” and to look at the different styles of hair, glasses and clothes - not sure what possessed Mr. HCB to wear that tie, but in those days that’s what the men wore hideous ties. He was also wearing the suit he wore for our wedding in 1968 - well, he only had one suit - we couldn't afford more - in fact, today he doesn't even possess a suit!
Not quite sure where my dress came from, but it was definitely Crimplene and those of a certain age will remember that! A friend of ours, when he saw me with these glasses, said I should have kept them - he said I would get a good price for them now in "vintage" London - and I even had dark hair!
Kagsy65 challenged us to put up a photograph of ourselves in the 1970s - this was the first one I found and I'm not sure I have kept many others, but it fits in well with the August Challenge today for STYLE ON SUNDAY.
With apologies to Mr. and Master HCB - wonder how many people will recognise any of us?
