Yay , Vacation !

Actually we left Friday and were planning to stop at Fredericksburg ,Va as it is about halfway to the Outer Banks in NC. I assumed if we left about ( AM we would get there early afternoon and could spend half a day on Friday and half a day on Sat  then leave for NC. While I am really glad they are repairing some of the infrastructure  in the US.....Two lengthy backups in PA due to road construction  were not bad but then we hit : Harrisburg traffic ( bad), Washington traffic (really, really  bad), Richmond traffic ( oh , come on already!), which even spills over to route 1. Long and short of it is thank God we didn't try to get to NC in one day , it took us 10 hours to get to Fredricksburg. So no blips in the run up to vacation trying to get out of the office, no blips on Friday, and actually am back blipping as I fell asleep not long after dinner the last 2 days.
This is the Chancellorsville Battlefield , one of the bloodiest battles in the Civil War. It actually was an Inn/family home, not really a town. There were 3 major battles in this area, at 3 different times. The battlefields are less monument strewn than Gettysburg. More woods and plaques at sites were the houses that were there are gone. They seem to weave in and out of modern homes and farms also. One interesting side effect is we crossed path with a pileated woodpecker, hooded warbler and quite a few butterflies. So good for the local environment .
