........not what we expected.............

35th wedding anniversary......didn't expect to spend it in A & E.

The Boss has had some back pain for a couple of weeks.........this morning she couldn't move.

Not going into details............she's far too private for that......suffice to say we had to call a 999.............and we ended up spending nearly six hours in A & E.

The paramedic first responder was fantastic.............so too the ambulance crew.............and the nurses at the hospital............the doctor,though, was something else.

Those of you who know the Boss know how tough she is..........I think I've only see her cry about 5 times in 35 years........the pain made her cry several times today....but the doc obviously thought she was milking it........it was an hour after arrival at A & E that he examined her....and only because I made a fuss...another 30 minutes before two painkillers arrived......weaker than the ones prescribed by her own doctor!........another hour before he came back.......and he made it quite clear that he thought the pain in her chest and back and shortness of breath was entirely her own fault for smoking and drinking.......I wanted to punch him..........and he knew it.........so he reluctantly ordered an X-ray.......despite the fact that she had one on Thursday.....and he could have seen the report if he'd wanted to.

He made it clear that he wasn't going to admit her........and eventually we left with a course of antibiotics and one strong painkiller.

Obviously we had to cancel our celebration meal..............and I'm going to be on nurse maid duties all week.
