Artichokes and Fennel

It was a lovely hot, sunny day which we had to waste by going to town as it was our only free day for sorting out essential buying for our trip.

I thought we could get malaria tablets over the counter but no. A few weeks ago we had a long appointment with our NHS practice nurse who printed put advice re malaria tablets. When we went to buy the appropriate ones from Boots we were told we needed an appointment with a qualified pharmacist who's repeat the process the nurse had done (half hour questions input into a computer) and then offer advice and issue us with a private prescription. No doubt the NHS is paying an arm and leg to Boots for this priviledge. We declined, called at the surgery and the nurse will phone to check again what we need, and will ask GP to write a private prescription. What a palaver for 3 days when a mozzi might bite.

Friends asked us for supper - we had a drink in their amazing garden before we ate. We had a lovely evening discussing the upcoming election and books and travel.
