Half a wedding
Watched my darling little sister (pictured with Dad) walk down the aisle today and marry her holiday romance and one-time love (also on blip - jamest17). She's a stunning girl and I knew she'd look amazing but even she surpassed my expectations today. I've never seen a more beautiful bride. Ever.
They are such a happy go-lucky couple and so in sync with one-another. The wedding had lots of original personal touches and was obviously the result of lots of excited planning from them both.
The ceremony itself was full of laughter and joy. Two happy families coming together and celebrating. Just as it should be.
The wedding planning had been slightly over-shadowed until recently by my looming due date - the same day. All sorts of scenarios were played out but thankfully Audrey made an early appearance so we were able to attend.
After another night of no sleep, fever, sweats (mastitis - joy!) and labour after-pains just getting there today was a battle though. I hit a wall after the ceremony when my Mum asked if I was OK. Why is it when people are nice to you and you're feeling vulnerable it always makes you cry? Probably all the hormones raging in my body right now.
We had every intention of staying for the meal and speeches but
it was all a bit much for Audrey and I, so it was decided we'd be better heading home. Home is such a sanctuary right now. Just want to sleep for a week before I have to face the world again.
Meanwhile at a venue in Saddleworth the music is cranking up and the dance-floor is getting ready for a right Yorkshire knees up...so sad not to be part of it as know it will be a great after-party.
I guess it's better to have made half a wedding than not at all....
