Down in the woods
Tuesday 18th August 2015 (1088)
An early start this morning for a drive down to Kibblestone International Scout Camp in Staffordshire to join members of our BBGA on their camp. I arrived at 9.30am just in time for morning worship.
The morning activity was tree climbing, which I respectfully declined! The youngsters did well climbing some very tall trees. Some made it look so easy!
After lunch we played a version of Danish Longball on the camp field. I had never played that game before. Unfortunately I was out on my second run!
We had an early evening meal and then went on the Hawk Walk. Down in a clearing in the woods we met up with a man who had brought a barn owl, eagle owl and harris hawk to show us. The birds were quite happy jumping from hand to hand of everyone in the group. This barn owl was quite a character and gave us a lovely unscheduled flying demo. The harris hawk was amazing to see flying between the trees. At one point it got distracted though and went off after a squirrel, think it gave the squirrel quite a fright! I've added the other two as extras.
Then it was time for the drive back home. A long and tiring day but it has been good to join the youngsters on their camp.
