Spring Tui

I know, it's not Spring yet, but today felt we were well on the way to Spring with a beautiful blue sky and sunny afternoon.  It's amazing what a bit of sunshine does to cheer you up!

This lovely tree is the first to blossom at school.  It sits outside our primary classrooms, and is often admired when parents come to pick up their children at 3pm.  This Tui was enjoying the newly opened blossom, but I have to say it was a bossy Tui.  Several times while photographing it, it flew around the tree chasing all the sparrows from resting on the branches.  Very territorial.  Something I haven't seen before. 

Today hit the half way mark with calving.  It's been an extremely busy 3 weeks.
