Anatole's blips

Midnight sunset

The sun goes down at about 10pm and then the dusk lasts for hours. This shot was taken just after midnight (don't believe the camera which was still on UK time). I would have got a better shot except this was a bit rushed ...

"Oh look - there's an Aurora tonight"
"Lovely colours - there's green, white and pink"
"Damn - where's the camera"
     "It's moving quickly too"
"Ah - got it" - snap
"It is now rippling right overhead"
*wrong shutter speed
*wrong ISO - snap
fiddle, fiddle, snap, fiddle

"Right ... where's it gone ... ?"

It didn't appear again despite the KP index being almost 5 and all clear nights afterwards.

In the extra photos: Yellow Wagtail (Motacilla flava)
Probably a 'lifer' as we have only see Yellow Wagtails before in the UK and Northern France where they are probably Motacilla Flavissima. The Northern Fenno-Scandian variant (thunbergi) is also called 'Grey-headed' as the male can have a blue-grey head in the spring.
