Not Much of Cornwall ...

Today was our first full day in lovely Cornwall.  We are staying at a charming hotel in Portloe, and our room looks right out on the water -- lovely!  This morning, the sun was even shining -- a rarity this week.

After breakfast, we decided to drive to the Lost Gardens of Heligan, which were really delightful to wander through, and where I took almost 100 photographs.  We then decided to visit St. Mawes to see King Henry VIII's bastions that are there, and also to enjoy the scenery and find a Cornish Pasty for lunch.

On the way there, we suddenly heard a loud BANG, and the next thing we knew, we had a flat tire.  Fortunately, there was a layby nearby, and we ended up sitting there for four hours until the trusty AA could get us on the road again.  (We were astonished to discover that our rental car did not come equipped with a spare tire!)  So, this is how we spent the better part of the day...
