Brian on blip
A grand day out in Edinburgh with the Precious and Gustavo began early with a guided tour around Holyrood Palace gardens. Brian was our knowledgeable guide and there were just 4 in our little cohort, so we got to ask lots of questions! We then went into Holyrood Palace and the wee audio guide was really good - just the right amount of info and if you wanted more, you could ask the 'wardens' in each room. We were much taken with the rooms of Mary, Queen of Scots. That Darnley was a bit dastardly!
On our way out Gustavo remembered that a tour of the Queen's Gallery was also included in our ticket, so we spent some time looking at the beautiful paintings displayed there.
Holyrood was very interesting, but I think I'd like to go back to do the evening tour sometime, which takes in the Royal Apartments.
Then a brisk walk up the Royal Mile, including many skirmishes with Festival folk advertising their talents, and down the Mound and across to George Street. I've passed Cafe Andaluz lots of times, but this time we stopped for tapas and a glass of Merlot - both recommended!
Now back in flat, shoes kicked off and waiting for a cup of tea.
A grand day out.
