A Kiwi in Harrogate
This fine sculpture of a Kiwi is another work by chainsaw artist Mick Burns.
There are in fact a number of chainsaw sculptures in the New Zealand garden which is a part of Harrogate's Valley Gardens. In 1957 the Christchurch Botanical Gardens in New Zealand donated a host of specimens to Harrogate, for which the New Zealand Garden was constructed. In 2010 the garden was redesigned and several carvings, including this one and the one in my extra photo were included. The extra shot is, in fact, the rear of a giant swordfish carving. I liked the appearance of the waves carved in the wood.
Last year, I blipped this work by the same artist.
