Shorebirds
Time for some wildlife.
Took our son and the boys over to get the ferry early this morning. Then H and I got a lovely early row in before any boats started moving out of Montague. This rock disappears at a higher tide (it's marked with a flag for mariners) so it was fun to see one of my favorite birds, American Black Oystercatchers, eating mussels on it, but I’m not a birder and can’t really identify the 2 on the lower right. (Turnstone? plover? surfbird? such a definite pattern….. I’d rally appreciate it if anyone could tell me!!- I know the photo isn’t very big.. it helps to bigify it...) I did like this view from the boat.. Galiano Island in the background.
The girls surfaced at 11:00 for pancakes, but my best efforts have not gotten them out of their pjs to do any sort of outdoor activity (we left the boat in the water as Tatum’s’s friend A is a rower, and lord knows there are plenty of other choices) or actually anything other than “hanging out” on their beds with those damm phones which I’d rather not blip. I’m not pushing it (we enjoyed a nap! :-)) as I’m very curious how long they can actually do this.... Interesting contrast!
Well, heading for the studio-----almost 4:00….we’ll see if that tweaks them….tomorrow is another day...
