What Do You Think?

Zippy, this little winged wonder, flutters his wings normally at about 80 times per second. He does not flap  his wings, he rotates  them in a figure 8, which makes it even more remarkable. (That action is what enables hummingbirds to go backwards and to hover - making these birds different from all others.)

You can actually see the motion a bit in this recent blip.

In this photograph, he may be either:

1.  Coming in for a nice, soft landing - fluttering his wings so fast as to not be visible to the camera.

                                    or

2.  Falling backwards off the perch, needing to flutter his wings like  mad to keep from falling to the ground!

Which do you think he's doing?
