Black Ground Beetle – Pterostichus melanarius

I have blipped a similar beetle on 3July - however, this big fellow scuttled away as I was cleaing some buttercup roots this morning in readiness to sow yet more white clover seeds. I put him in a jar with a leaf so this is taken through glass, and maybe not as sharp as I would like. I did more research on him this time. You wouldn't believe how many species of black beetle thee can be in the garden. However, I think I have got this fellow labelled correctly on account of his 20mm size and the dark reddish-brown colouring on his antennae and legs. I had a go at Effects and put him in a Circle just for a change. Have a nice evening, everyone!
