Checking Out the Neighborhood

We awoke to heavy rain and wind, both welcome, although they are going to play havoc with the farmers' market and the plein air paint-out downtown today.

These two female Mallard ducks looked very pleased with the turn in the weather, spending quite a while in our cul-de-sac on the early side of this morning, looking around as if to say, "Hmmm, what do you think of this neighborhood?" 

Our neighbors carefully exited their driveway, and no doubt were more amused by the sight of Phil and me on our front porch, still in our nightwear and aiming cameras with long lenses, than by the duck duo.

After the truck was gone, the ducks came to take a look at us too (see extra). I'd love to know what they were thinking!
