Cygnet ring

I carry a camera in my bag all the time.  Even when I don't use it, it's there.  Today it was still sat on my desk from uploading photos yesterday.  As fate would have it, that meant that today would be the day that interesting things were happening on the canal.

These cygnets arrived with their parents about a month back, already quite old.  This morning we were lucky enough to be passing on our usual Saturday stroll to the Farmers' Market, just at the point when this little family were all bundled up to get their leg rings put on.  I've never seen it done before and was quite impressed that the parent stood by, not causing a fuss (you usually get hissed at if you get too close to the little ones).  Shame to have missed them being caught and wrestled in to their little jackets but interesting to see all the same.

With no camera on me, I had to make do with a grainy shot from the mobile.
