Tales from an Allotment

We got there early so we could hire the power-strimmer and start tackling our over-grown plot. Despite a few false-starts and narrowly avoided nasty injury by Mum, we made real progress today hacking down the towering weeds and starting to clear the debris. We found a rhubarb plant, but left the blackberry bush for next time. The shed is going to need so much work to make it weather-proof, and we have a huge battle with weeds ahead of us, but it was great fun. We've meet a lot of our neighbours now, and everyone's been very chatty and offering up advice.
After our manual labour, we spent the rest of the day at Mum's relaxing and eventually succeeding in changing my car's brake light. I'm so glad it's a bank holiday tomorrow!
