When The Winds Blow
Grand day out.
Visited loads of hot spots throughout Anglesey today starting at Parys Mountain which is just up the road from our campsite. The heavy rain prevented us from getting out to admire the views properly but still enjoyed the drive to Llyn Alaw, the island's largest reservoir. Stopped at the Alaw dam and pottered around for a bit. Plenty of pics.
Next step was the Llynnon Windmill, pictured here. This is well worth visiting as it is in full working order and for a small fee we could go right up to it's attic with all moving parts in full flow. Fab stuff. Surrounding the mill were various wooden sculptures and thatched huts showing the way they used to live.
After that we made a quick stop at the Presaddfed burial chamber. Though fascinating, it seemed to appeal more to the surrounding sheep. We called it the sheep shelter!
Had lunch at Porth Dafarch beach as the winds were too strong for lunch at the South Stack. Enjoyed multiple flavour crisps, sandwiches and drink. Tuttle jnr & Robbie built a dam while I stacked pebbles, again. Windy but gloriously sunny.
Then......South Stack surprise surprise. Never disappoints. Took many pics with my mobile while Lee pushed his new camera to it's limit. Wind was well scary.
Drove through Holyhead via the docks and stopped at Penrhos for icecream. Stunning views 360 degrees. Still sunny and lots of fluffy clouds.
Finally, heading back to Moelfre we were hoping to see some whales off the Bull Bay Road. Disappointed at the no show, but this did not dampen our spirits once we tucked into the Taverns menu. Enjoyed a round of drinks and played a very funny eye spy game and an even produced funnier A to Z shopping list.
Drinks all round in the tent.
Fooked but we'll worth it!
