Wound up in Wexford

Studley Castle

Back blipping on 31st

We travelled over yesterday, taking a convoluted route, avoiding A roads as much as possible.  We passed through some lovely Cambridgeshire and Midlands villages.  Unfortunately, the weather was pretty awful.  We stopped for a late lunch at Grafham Water, where there were numbers of very wet people and dogs.

We stayed the night at Studley Castle Hotel - a Gothic Revival property, built in the 1830s.  It is full of character, though a bit run down.  There were these rather grotesque heads on the arches over windows and doors.  I've added a more general view on as an extra.  Our room was tiny, but the bed was comfortable, and the evening meal was delicious.  We were lucky enough to get a gap in the rain long enough for a wander outside, and later, after eating, it was almost warm enough to sit out with our coffee.

We couldn't get the wifi to work - we had network connection but no internet access.

It's raining again this morning so having done our shopping, we've called into a Brewer's Fayre place with unlimited coffee, and free wifi.
