Spring Snow on the Waikari Hills

Here in NZ, September 1st is supposed to be the first day of Spring. You wouldn't have thought so today as the snow fell and temperatures dipped to just above zero.

With snow falling on the ridge behind the house, I decided to go for a drive up onto the hills and onwards up the gorge. The view from Whiterock was murky, so I decided to head back towards the saddle to take this shot of the pregnant ewes, standing in the shadow of Coal Hill looking mightily unimpressed by the weather.
