Street Photography: Peddling Without A Certificate
Wrapped around some pipes in the loft was some newspaper - I extracted some that was in reasonable physical condition and flattened it out today. Transpires that they were a mix of The Worcester Times from 1935, and the Radio Times from 1951.
The recovered 1935 page had a couple of articles of interest. One a report of a YMCA group visit to Germany, and worried reflections on what was happening there. The other, an arrest for taking photographs of people in the street; resulting in a fine of 2/6d.
I was entertained by the fact that having been spotted and arrested for, what cannot have been subtle, use of a tripod and camera, the police deemed it necessary to search him for "photographic requisites". Even better, the reporter thought it sufficient of a surprise to warrant reporting that they had, indeed, been found on him.
So, you street snappers out there - you do have your Certificate to Peddle, don't you?
