Warmth

We did quite a lot of walking in downtown St. Louis today, in 93 F / 34 C weather. This spray plaza in Citygarden looked very appealing! Citygarden is three acres in the heart of the city with sculptures, reflecting pools, attractive beds of native plants, a cafe, a waterfall, and the spray plaza. Always open and free, Citygarden reflects the native flora of Missouri, with more than 100 species of trees, shrubs, grasses, ground covers, and wildflowers.

We also had a long lunch -- including a delicious brownie with cinnamon ice cream and chocolate sauce -- and several interesting beers at The Bridge Tap House.

This evening we had a long, leisurely dinner at our hotel with my first cousin once removed (the son of my first cousin), F, and his wife D. I'd never met them before, but have corresponded with F, and within the first five minutes of conversation it was as if we'd known one another for a long time, despite the difference in our ages. There's a good chance that we'll get together with them here again tomorrow evening, and their three children (ages 11, 13, and 16) as well.

One more day here at this splendid old hotel, and then a short flight to Columbus, Ohio, for the North American Festival of Wales. What a wonderful time we're having!
