Friars Point House

My beloved and I went for a long, long walk along the coastal footpath between Barry and Barry Island today. We came across this lovely old abandoned house on our journey and I decided to look into its history.  The property was first built in 1858 by Francis Crawshay and it was known as the Marine Hotel and accommodation was offered to "a more select Victorian visitor".  In 1873, the property was bought by J.D. Traherne who extended the property somewhat and re named it The Pier Hotel".  In 1894, the place was bought by a Lord Windsor who promptly knocked down the extensions and renamed it as Friars Point House.  The views from this place are just amazing and I just hope that somebody buys it and gives it the TLC that it deserves. To demolish this fabulous old place would be criminal!
