Devo Manc...
Or to give it its proper name "Devolution Manchester" - an event unprecedented since the industrial revolution. In April of next year Whitehall will devolve power to Manchester in order that the Greater Manchester region can make many more decisions about its own future and not be beholden to Central Government. The first stage is to devolve the £6bn Health & Social Care budget currently held centrally.
How this will happen and how it will affect local businesses was what the gentleman in my photo was answering questions about today. This is Tony Lloyd, the Interim Mayor of Manchester, who was answering questions posed to him by a small, round-table audience including Jenny Nugent, our very own Business Development Manager. The event was held at the Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce today and was enjoyed by all participants. You have often heard me go on about Manchester "buzzing" and that will only get better once it becomes devolved from Central Government. Roll on April 2016!
