The squirrel grandstand
I rather tend to have a war with squirrels which are on the rise again hereabouts. The population living in the trees between the gardens and the steep wooded hillside leading down to the stream race backwards and forwards across the branches. Because we have been feeding seeds and nuts to the birds for many years the squirrels have been stealing it whenever they can.
We have squirrel proof feeders but they aren't totally effective. Sometimes I leave out food on trays for the birds which can only eat in the open and not from hanging feeders.
This squirrel was disappointed as there wasn't any bird food available to it, and when that occurs it runs t the front of the cabin roof to look down with envy on the countless birds gorging beneath the rhus tree. It must be a like a grandstand for them and also the pigeons who are also similarly limited and restricted by me!
