Chestnuts
Today, we finally finished repairing the roof. Well, Sid did all the expert work whilst I ran up and down the ladder fetching roofing felt, slates and all the paraphernalia that he had mysteriously managed to leave down below in his van. Between us we had a combined age of 134, scrambling over the roofs like a couple of wee lads! So, fingers crossed, no more leaks now that the water can no longer seep in below the zinc valleys. This two and a half year old is still fairly shy and wouldn't come over to take apples out of my hand, but was perfectly content for me to pitch them over to her in the field that adjoins our garden. Mind you, she had to pick them out from the spiky chestnuts that are falling fast from our one remaining chestnut tree.
