Hampsfell Hospice

The annual blackberrying trip today. Hampsfell Hospice is a small limestone tower refuge at the summit of the hill with grande views of the Lake District with a line up the fells oversized compass on the top.

We needed enough berries to make some jam and Blackberry Brandy for Christmas. A grande total of nearly 6 kilos  were collected. plenty spare for crumble. The brandy will take 3 months to mature.  Extra photo is of the Ladies Autumn Tresses on the limestone cliffs on the edge of Morecambe Bay.  Thanks to Dancersend  for his directions.  I managed to find just 3 flowers spikes of this late orchid.
