Cabbage Tree at Sundown, Mid-Canterbury
The sunset was amazing on our way home from Christchurch tonight; after leaving the evening haze of the city surrounds, by the time we were south of the Ashburton River the air had cleared and rich ochre tones emanated from behind the mountains.
As we travelled along the Mayfield-Valletta road the sun was dipping behind the Waikari Hills, one of my usual haunts when it comes to blips, so it seemed fitting to get another perspective of a familiar spot, all behind the unmistakeable silhouette of a New Zealand cabbage tree/ti kouka.
Yesterday's blip was a late one under the stars, so in case you missed it check out the Milky Way over Blandswood
