Triana corner, Las Palmas

Breakfast in the hotel was okay, apart from the coffee which was more like sludge. We left our luggage and headed out to re-explore the town (this was our third visit). We found ourselves a good spot for some real coffee and then spent time wandering around the narrow streets of Triana, the old town in Las Palmas, which anyone who goes to Las Palmas should do. It's full of character, with a maze of narrow streets and a great atmosphere (strong hints of Mexico, I thought). We ate in a highly regarded tapas place near the cathedral, returned to the hotel, picked up the luggage and got the bus down to Playa del Inglés.

After a much needed siesta, the original plan of going out for food and drinks was abandoned as we gave way to exhaustion. Plenty of time for eating and drinking in the days ahead.
