Anguis fragilis

After yesterday's close encounter with an adder I wasn't expecting to see any reptiles today especially as I was walking on the chalk Downs. I was very surprised to see this slow worm coming down a chalk path. Strangely rather than move away the slow worm continued to head straight towards me. Fortunately the spaniel ignored it.
