Dome from Dome

I swapped the 20 + degrees of Geneva for the murk of London City and later the broken late summer sunshine of Scotland.

This view of The Millennium Dome, aka 02 Arena, was taken on the very steep descent into the old London Docks that now hosts  the London City commuter airport. Much less hassle than changing planes at Heathrow.

On the Edinburgh sector of my journey I sat next to a celebrity academic such is the popularity  of this air corridor between constituent nations of our, still,  United Kingdom.

A busy three days in Switzerland have ended with  a chilly haar here in Edinburgh this evening.

Tomorrow, the Queen of our Kingdom ( Can that be right? Why not Queendom?) -steams through our local station on her way to open The Borders Railway. Queen Elizabeth also steams into the record books at about 1600 hrs when she becomes our oldest and longest reigning monarch of all time.

I flew over Calais en route to LCY this afternoon and could not help thinking about those  fellow human beings who are trapped there, wishing they could also find a way to enter the UK.
