HM Queen Elizabeth steams through Portobello
How much excitement can our wee suburb of Edinburgh handle in one morning?
First The Tour of Britain cycle race began outside our gym and you can see it whizzing past in my extra photo.
Then we crossed the road to our local station to wait to see The Royal Train steam through. There was a great gathering of locals of all ages, and despite a slight delay due to fog at Balmoral preventing the helicopter from taking off from there, on time, everyone was pleased to see her on this significant day. We had a really good view of HM as she was on, our side of the carriage.
I made a video to show the grandchildren, using a tripod, but decided to watch the train without the restriction of a view finder and I was not disappointed.
Whatever your views on the monarchy this opportunity to see The Queen pass through Porty on such an auspicious day was an opportunity too good to miss!
Off to work now ....
