Californian Sun
Or, rather, Californian Poppies in the (somewhat intermittent) sun.
I know that Eschscholzia Californica is supposed to be a very easy plant to grow, and is often included in children's seed collections. But in our previous house (18th century, high-walled garden, centre of town), we were never really successful. Where we are now, on the edge of the city, we seem to have done better. I admit that our clusters of the flowers are not quite up to the standard of the field in this picture! But ours looked very pretty in the sun.
The large field is in Antelope Valley California Poppy Reserve, so it's a special and renowned place in the poppies' native habitat.
